Lon Methods

Q

With this method, we create a controlled fracture in the bone during the operation and place an intramedullary nail inside the bone and an external fixator outside the bone. After a waiting period of 5-7 days, we start the daily length of 4 * 0.25 mm (1 mm) per day. After 3-4 months on average, when we reach the desired lengthening, we remove the external fixator outside the bone with a small operation and lock the intramedullary nail. In the next period, we expect the bone part we have extended to harden completely, 3-4 months on average. With this method, we offer a much more comfortable lengthening experience compared to completely external methods. The intramedullary nail remains in the bone marrow until complete bony fusion is achieved.

The reason for the popularity of this method is that it is cheaper than magnetic and motorized nails, the use of external fixators is shorter than the completely external methods, and it can give full weight during the lengthening process.
